Your questions on how hypnotherapy works? If your question isn’t listed here, just get in touch and I’ll do my best to answer it. Give me a call on 07761 586529, email me at info@heatherhallharleystreet.co.uk or use my enquiry form.

What does it feel like?

Mostly, it just feels relaxing. The more sessions you have, the more quickly you’ll go into a trance state. This state boosts the immune system, lowers blood pressure and releases endorphins, which are hormones that make you feel good.

You might feel like your limbs are heavy or you’re floating. You’ll always be aware of what’s happening and in control.

What happens in a session?

The first session is a bit different from any others. We’ll talk about what you want to achieve and you can ask questions.

I then tailor further sessions to you, using the information you gave me in the first session. We’ll use various techniques to resolve your problem.

I might give you a CD or MP3 recording for you to use at home between sessions.

How long is a session?

Sessions are all unique, so the time varies. It will be somewhere between 50 and 90 minutes.

Will I need multiple sessions?

It depends on you and the issue we’re working on. Some people notice big changes after one session of Cognitive Hypnotherapy. Typically, clients have between three and five sessions.

How much does a session cost?

If you’re interested in going ahead with hypnotherapy or just want to find out more including how much does a session cost, then get in touch and we can talk about prices.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

Please get in touch as soon as you can, so I can give your appointment to someone else. If you give me less than 24 hours’ notice, I’ll have to charge a cancellation fee of 100%.

Are my sessions confidential?

Of course. I comply with the 1998 Data Protection Act and the National Council for Hypnotherapy’s strict code of ethics. Anything you say in a session will stay between us.

The only exception to this is if I have concerns about your safety. In this case, I would contact your GP.

What if you can’t hypnotise me?

Hypnosis is an altered state of awareness, much like daydreaming. You’re very relaxed but not asleep. People slip in and out of this trance state all the time.

I’ve seen hypnosis on stage and TV; are your sessions like that?

Hypnosis on stage is for the sake of entertainment.  Hypnotherapy is about resolving your problem. You’ll be aware of what you’re doing at all times and won’t do anything embarrassing.

What if I tell you something I don’t want to?

Don’t worry; this won’t happen. You’ll only say things you want to say and you’ll be aware of what you’re doing at all times. If you want to talk about things that are difficult, remember that it will be in confidence.

What if I don’t come round afterwards?

If you stayed in a hypnotic state, you’d either wake up or fall asleep.

Can I drive after the session?

Yes, you’ll be fine to drive home after your session.

How do I know it will work?

Nobody can guarantee a miracle cure for your problem. Everyone’s unique and some people respond more quickly than others.

It’s important that you commit to hypnotherapy and really want to change. Most people are very happy with the results.
